Oprah’s Finale.

Posted By: Terri
Category: Uncategorized

The Queen of talk has left the building. Today, Oprah Winfrey ended her 25 year reign as the most successful and longest running talk show in history. Oprah changed the tone of daytime talk in presenting a message that was positive, informative and uplifting. The intention she set for her viewing audience was to educate, entertain and aid us in helping to discover “our best selves.” I have always thought that the finest way to teach someone something is to be an example of what you want them to learn. Oprah truly personified the most positive of attributes that we can all continue to aspire to. She will be sorely missed as our daytime dose of  Amazing Grace. Thank you Oprah.

The Louboutin Lawsuit.

Posted By: Terri

Chrsitian Louboutin seems to have his pointed red soled pumps in a pinch. Mr. Louboutin recently filed a million dollar lawsuit against Yves Saint Laurent claiming that YSL had stolen his trademark red soles for Spring 2011. YSL’s recent rebuttal (and this is where it gets really interesting) states that Louboutin didn’t invent red soles and therefore can’t prevent anyone else from making shoes that feature them. YSL also presented the fact that: “Red soles area a commonly used ornamental design feature in footwear, dating as far back as the red shoes worn by King Louis XIV in the 1600’s and the ruby red shoes that carried Dorothy home in the “Wizard of Oz.” YSL accuses Louboutin of using its lawsuit as an anti-competition scheme designed to get big retailers to pull YSL shoes from the shelves.

Louboutin does have a trademark on file with the US Patent and Trademark office that protects its red soles as the company’s intellectual property, and by selling a shoe with a red sole, YSL is in infringing upon that trademark. BUT…Court papers filed by YSL state that “Louboutin was fraudulent in his trademark application claim that he had ‘exclusive’ use of the red sole…

There’s no way of knowing how this high heel drama will play out but one might suggest that both parties do a little soul searching. Let’s pray…it all works out for the best!

Princess Beatrice makes lemonade.

Posted By: Terri
Category: Fashion

Remember the hat that Princess Beatrice wore at last month’s Royal Wedding? How could you forget!  Well, that much talked about fashion faux pas has just been sold for (wait for it… over $130,000.00 US dollars) Whh.h.h.at? Well it seems that Princess Beatrice (the 22 year old daughter of Sarah Ferguson aka Fergie and Price Andrew. not to mention granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II) is going to have the last laugh on all the fashion nay-sayers when she decided to make lemons into lemonade and auction her Phillip Treacy hat on eBay with proceeds of the sale to go to the charity UNICEF and Children in Crisis. Who would have thought that the little hat that could-would go on auction and sell for $131,648.00-to be exact.

“Our hat’s are off to you Princess Beatrice-well done.”
