A Glimpse at the Gucci Museum.

Category: Designer Spotlight Fashion

Well it only took 90 years but Gucci finally took the plunge and built itself a lovely “little” Museum to showcase the historic rise and iconic fashion of its legendary company. The Gucci label as we know it started quite simply when Gucci founder, Guccio Gucci became fascinated with high-end luggage when he worked as a busboy at the Savoy Hotel in London. Not one to let an opportunity or a vision go un-inspired Guccio started designing his own line of high end luggage. The rest as they say is history.

Today, Gucci  is an International Brand known worldwide for a wide variety of luxury items from luggage to timepieces to designer fashion. Speaking of Gucci fashion…Oh, how that label has evolved from the interlocking signature G’s to that of Red Carpet Royalty wearing gown after gown of Gucci Glamour.

An interesting little side note: Did you know that at one time Guccio’s son-Aldo, designed a limited edition 1979 Cadillac Seville. The car is decorated with the Gucci signature green and red stripes (natch) and monogrammed with the brand’s infamous GG monogram.  It still runs. Who knew????

The Gucci Museum is located in Florence Italy (the birthplace of Gucci) and will have changing themes throughout the year highlighting various items of the label.  When in Florence, I highly recommend checking out this magnificent homage to the legendary label.

Ciao !

Where it all started…Gucci Luggage

Gwen Stefani “does” Target.

Posted By: Terri
Category: Designer Spotlight Fashion

Target’s Missoni Collection was an absolute smash hit. Suffice it to say that it would be a fashion miracle of spectacular proportions if you could track down a Missoni item anywhere in the Target universe (in-store /online). Instead one must resort to alternative venues-we are talking ebay with price points for the items listed up to ten times their original price. So much for discount shopping…Right?

That leaves us all wanting and waiting for the nest designer collection to appear at Target. Who will it be? What will they offer? Look no further because I have got the scoop-didi-scoop for you.

The next designer collection for La-Target will be (tah-dah-dah-dah) Gwen Stefani! Yes, you are reading that right. This is the good news. The bad news is that Ms. Stefani, is designing a line for sizes starting at (wait for it) 6months to 16 years. We are talking babies to tweens. If you’re a Glamour Girl looking for some type of L.A.M.B. knock off, then best scope the aisles at Marshall’s, because this line will be bringing you NAH-DAH… when it comes to women’s sizes.

Look on the bright side. It is never too early to start your little one’s with fashion.

*The line debuts November 13, in all Target stores and online. Just in time for the Pre-Holiday RUSH!!!!

Over-Packers Anonymous

The Over Packers Credo:

When in doubt…

Pack EVERYTHING you can’t live without.

Stylist Rachel Zoe arrived at Paris Fashion Week with a total of ELEVEN LAGRE OVERSTUFFED bags plus two carry-ons for a whopping total of 13 bags. It’s just a  hunch but I’m guessing that husband Rodger-who you can see in the background and Baby Skylar (not pictured) had their luggage on a separate cart…

The Luggage of Karl Lagerfeld photographed at Fashion Week last year.

****Bear in mind that Uncle Karl wears the same uniform everyday.(Black jacket and pants -usually in the form of a dark black jean, white shirt and black tie.)

Pictured below is an editorial from Vogue Italia September 2011, featuring model Jacquelyn Jablonski as the over packer perpetrator. Somehow they make it look so ….fashionable!

The fabulous Tory Burch has just opened a gorgeous global flagship store at 797 Madison Avenue in New York City. The Gala grand opening party was held on September 15, with a bevy of A-list stars and fashion peeps in attendance..Take note:  If your traveling to New York City  in the near future, I would put this at the TOP of my “must see” shopping sites. If you’ve ever  thought that a neutral color palette was boring.g.g.g., then take a moment and check out these beautiful close up shots from Donna Karan’s Fall Winter 2011 Collection. When it comes to a designer who knows a thing  or two about “neutral territory”…Donna Karan should  be considered the “Switzerland” of Fashion.

Fashion Tip: Mix different textures in the same color palette for a look of sleek sophistication..

Sweater Weather….

 Embrace the OSW…

(Outdoor Sweater Weather)

Sequin Cardigan $69.50

I live in LA where “Sweater Weather,” isn’t in full Fall throttle until sometime in November. I remember growing up in the Midwest and looking forward to “chilly mornings” in late September and early October, when temperatures dipped into the 50-60’s and you’re  actually excited because you’ve been DYING to breakout your latest sweater purchase that’s been sitting in your closet since July! Let’s face it, (OSW) Outdoor Sweater Weather never lasts very long but, when it’s here you really want to embrace the perfect sweater. You seek something fun and fashionable but not to expensive because let’s face it, faster than you can say “first frost” you’ll be ditching your sweater coat for an insulated winter parka. (Well maybe not a parka but you get the gist…something much warmer and preferably with some flannel insulation).

Enter…Vicky, as in Victoria’s Secret. Yes the fashion Gods, were definitely in sync today when I thought to write this post because neatly rolled up in my mailbox was the latest Fall Issue of the Victoria’s Secret Catalog chock full of fabulous sweater options. We’re talking   cute cardigans, sweater coats, wonderful wraps and more. All are fashion forward and available at very reasonable prices. (We’re talking under $100.00 each)! At that price you may find yourself falling for more than just one OSW/outdoor sweater option. Kudos to you Vicky-you’re right on cue.

Cotton Cashmere Wrap $39.50

Faux Fur Sweater Coat $98.00

Open Cardigan $69.50

All sweaters available at www.victoriassecret.com
