Gloria Vanderbilt Dies at 95

Gloria Vanderbilt died today at the age of 95.

As CNN News Anchor Anderson Cooper (her son and only living heir) announced his beloved Mother’s passing today at the age of 95, he spoke loving of his mother and summed it up so beautifully in saying:

“She was an extraordinary woman who lived an extraordinary life.”

After reviewing picture after glamorous picture of this fashion maven, I couldn’t help but notice a few running themes that I felt personified how she lived her life to be so extraordinary:

  1. Embrace your own sense of Style.
  2. “Keep interested to be interesting.” Gloria Vanderbilt, was one of the wealthiest women on Earth, yet she choose to work on projects until her final days. She was always creating… painting, sketching, designing, decorating and writing.
  3. She was one of the first “Girl Bosses” and inspired and helped other women attain their dreams.
  4. And last but certainly not least (because the woman built the first designer jean empire): ” Jeans are always a good idea- especially if they fit and flatter your figure.

Gloria Vanderbilt with her namesake jeans… They were the “it”item in 1976. The first pair of “designer jeans.” They were comfortable, affordable and figure flattering.

This quote says volumes about her character and integrity.
