Georgina Chapman for JCPenny?!

Posted By: Terri
Category: Designer Spotlight Fashion

Yes, you are reading the headline correctly. Who would have thought that the uber luxe designer would be collabing with…JCPenney?. I’m happy to say that it is true and coming to you March 1. Now before we get all excited about buying a Marchesa knock off at a very do-able price point I should mention that the first collection is geared toward the Prom season BUT the good news is there will be monthly 15 piece  installments that will be appropriate for evening glam for everyone. Here is the complete 411 on the Marchesa/ JC Penny hook up from Women’s Wear Daily-(also know as WWD-the complete fashion bible on all things happening in the garment  biz)…

A sample Pearl boutique, via WWD

Georgina Chapman will be bringing her red-carpet looks to JC Penney in a new dress collection. Covering all of the collaboration’s bases with the name Pearl by Georgina Chapman of Marchesa (“Pearl” for short), the collection intends to deliver Chapman’s celebrity-adored designs to the everygirl for under $250. The dress designer explained, “[Pearl has] a slightly different attitude, a younger attitude, but it all comes from me. It retains the same sensibility and design aesthetic. I wanted it be fun. So a young girl can put on a dress and imagine she’s about to have an incredible night out.” Dare to dream, all you middle-of-no-where nobodies.

Though the first bout of dresses will be geared to prom (’tis the season), the collection will include all sorts of special occasion frocks, from “garden party” to “holiday party,” for everyone from high school dance goers to fortysomethings, WWD reports. The rest of the collection, which will be delivered monthly in 15-piece installments, will largely retail for $70 to $100. The outlier pricing however, is $50 for a lace shell or a printed shell, and $250 for a long organza gown. You’ll be able to find them in 250- to 300-square-foot shop-in-shops will live in 500 of JCP’s dress department come March 1. Just look for the chandeliers that “add a touch of class,” according to WWD

Oscar Worthy Options….

Posted By: Terri
Category: Designer Spotlight Fashion

It’s Oscar Week here in Hollywood and that means three things…

1. Hollywood Blvd. is closed and they are erecting large gold statues known as Oscar…

2. There’s a certain electricity in the air during Oscar Week. If you live here- you know what I mean. If your visiting -you have picked the best week of the year for celebrity sitings and that’s without taking one of those tacky star bus tours. .

3. There is a mad dash by celebrity stylists to covet (hoard) every possible gorgeous gown in town along with numerous choices of shoes, jewelry and handbags for one’s celebrity client. In the words of Rachel Zoe-You need Options.Lots ad lots of options. . .

On Oscar night you will hear the usual designer names touted by celebrities when asked: “Who are you wearing?” like Valentino,Armani, Vera Wang,Elie Saab (you know the usual suspects),but for my money there is one name that stands out above the rest when it comes to show stopping evening wear. Zuhair Murad. Every creation  from his latest Spring 2013 Couture Collection is Oscar worthy and definitely the perfect OPTION for the big night.

O.K. Put whatever you are doing down. This is going to be so.o.o.o worth it. Every once in awhile I come across an Etsy shop that really stands out from the rest. Today as I was searching on the site for something unique for the upcoming Halloween holiday I came across this absolutely AMAZING designer of hats. His name is Arturo Rios and who knew that he was literally in my backyard right here in beautiful Los Angeles. I have got to do a little more research to get the scoop diddy scoop on his background but I just had to share  a few of his unique custom hats listed on his  Etsy shop .If your as intrigued as I am about his designs click onto:

“More is More”@ Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012

Posted By: Terri

Leave it to the magnificent Oscar de la Renta, to design a collection filled with more baubles and bangles and beading than a remake of the movie Cleopatra. Oscar de la Renta’s Fall Collection premiered this week with a massive 62 outfits. There were so many looks, so many different fabrications and so much intricate detailing that the mantra surely most have been “More is More” for Fall 2012….
