Alex Perry Craving(s)

Here’s the thing about blogging,…You sit in front of your computer, perfectly poised to write a story and inspire your wonderful readers on the topic of white dresses for Summer. Just as you’re posting the first white dress that you are lovvving on-this happens. You find that the white dress is made by a label you are not familiar with. Now this is a major conundrum, since I am pretty much sourcing fashion 24/7 and thought I knew just about every designer out there or at the very least heard of them in passing on Pinterest,Vogue or Instagram. Imagine my surprise, when I come across this beautiful white confection and the image source listed is Designer Alex Perry. I ponder for a nano second: “Who is Alex Perry?” Come to find out (faster than you can Google his name at warp speed), Alex Perry is an Australian Fashion Designer with some pretty fabulous style. He designs dresses That’s it… dresses. Beautiful sleek, stylish dresses that are gorgeous and tailored to perfection.

Here’s a sweet sampling of his designs.

Gloria Vanderbilt Dies at 95

Gloria Vanderbilt died today at the age of 95.

As CNN News Anchor Anderson Cooper (her son and only living heir) announced his beloved Mother’s passing today at the age of 95, he spoke loving of his mother and summed it up so beautifully in saying:

“She was an extraordinary woman who lived an extraordinary life.”

After reviewing picture after glamorous picture of this fashion maven, I couldn’t help but notice a few running themes that I felt personified how she lived her life to be so extraordinary:

  1. Embrace your own sense of Style.
  2. “Keep interested to be interesting.” Gloria Vanderbilt, was one of the wealthiest women on Earth, yet she choose to work on projects until her final days. She was always creating… painting, sketching, designing, decorating and writing.
  3. She was one of the first “Girl Bosses” and inspired and helped other women attain their dreams.
  4. And last but certainly not least (because the woman built the first designer jean empire): ” Jeans are always a good idea- especially if they fit and flatter your figure.

Gloria Vanderbilt with her namesake jeans… They were the “it”item in 1976. The first pair of “designer jeans.” They were comfortable, affordable and figure flattering.

This quote says volumes about her character and integrity.

5 Things (for Summer)

Posted By: Terri

Summer’s official start date is June 21. If you’re anything like me, Summer “officially” begins the minute temps tip over 70 degrees outside. Are you with me on this one? I thought so.

It got me to thinking…what are some quick, easy and simple things we can do to embrace the Spirit of Summer?

Here are 5 simple things I came up with that are “oh so doable.”

It’s time to embrace the Summer sneaker. My flatfooted shoe of choice are a pair of trusty white Keds. Classic and of so comfortable.
Simplify your Summer attire and use an over sized scarf as the perfect halter top.
It’s the perfect time to hit the beach or any body of water to decompress.
In celebration of brighter and warmer days ahead …add a pretty pop of color to your decor and add some spice to your space.
Bonus: Summer fruits are in Season. Yummy, healthy and low calorie.

Meet Sebastian Grey

Project Runway Season 17 WINNER-South Florida Designer Sebastian Grey

Sebastian Grey-remember that name. Sebastian just won Season 17 of Project Runway and I have a feeling his path will mirror that of a previous winner named Christian Siriano. Christian has gone on to great success in Fashion and I have no doubt that Sebastian will follow a similar path.

Originally from Columbia, Sebastian came to America to pursue the American Dream. He had a vision to be a designer and make beautiful clothes Until winning Project Runway Season 17, Sebastian made a living cleaning homes and designing in his spare time. Clearly gifted and unbelievably creative with a vision, hard work and design skills that hedge on being “couture worthy” his days of cleaning houses have ended. Winning Project Runway not only allows him the freedom to finally have the money to design and market his own line of clothing but establish his brand in the industry. I have a feeling we’ll all be clamoring to wear his creations in the very near future.

A sampling of some of Sebastian’s previous designs on Project Runway.
