Getting Back on Track….

Posted By: Terri
Category: Health & Wellness Uncategorized

Here we are,the start of another work week and I will absolutely cop to the fact that  I for one have not been as productive as I would like. Which begs me to ask if you are finding yourself in a similar situation? The isolation of the Pandemic and ongoing lock down in California have made  keeping a schedule seem lack luster at best. If I were to summarize this year -I would have to say that 2020 seems like the  longggest Groundhog day ever.

As  my intention is always to provide uplifting and motivating content for you my lovely readers, I have compiled a little “to do”list to get  us all back on track and keep us focused on our goals for the future. Because (being the eternal optimist) somedayyyyy this will be behind us and wouldn’t it be nice to be in a place where we find ourselves ready and better than ever to bring new ideas, projects and dreams to fruition.

Here’s celebrating all you can do !

Now let’s get going shall we:

  1. If you’re working from home you must carve out a dedicated space to do your work. A quiet area with good lighting, ample desk space and a comfortable chair are key!

The Go To Glamour Girl Home Office……

2. Make a schedule and stick to it. What do you want to get accomplished this week, this month,or this year?I find that oftentimes it’s best to take things day by day or at the very most week to week so you can have a sense of accomplishment in these unsettling times. Everything can be accomplished if you take BABY STEPS toward your goal each and every day.

3. Schedule a little “Break time” in your day. Take time to work out, get out of your work space or do something enjoyable every couple of hours. It serves as a refresh and a reset so you can go back to your work area and be productive.

4. Eliminate distractions. O.K. This is a biggie. Turn off cell phones, TV, anything and everything that pulls your focus from concentrating on the task(s) at hand. I have sourced a number of friends and asked what their biggest time waster of the day is..and ALL say the cell phone. We all find ourselves scrolling Instagram, Twitter, etc. So when in doubt turn off all distracting electronic devices for an hour or more and give yourself the luxury of having complete concentration on what you want to accomplish.

5. Plan to work a normal work week-that’s 5 days, 6 tops! We all need time to regroup and I found if I’m in my office 7 days a week I’m not as productive or creative.

Friday…Tips to Calm You in Quarantine

Posted By: Terri

This self quarantine is starting to wear on many and we must find ways to stay productive, positive and healthy. As we navigate through this difficult time, I have a few suggestions to help you make each day as pleasant as possible.

Routine is EVERYTHING! I KNOWWWW this is a hard one because quite frankly there is no where to go! With little if any routine because you can’t leave the house -I urge you to wake up and go to bed around the same time everyday.

Ditch the P.J.’s and GET DRESSED. It’s soooo easy to stay in your PJ’s all day BUT you’ll feel better about yourself and keep your spirits up if you make the effort to put on something presentable. If you’re really going for the GOLD-put on some make up and spritz your favorite perfume..whal- lah instant mood lifter.

Get your Workout IN! Gyms are closed, personal trainers must stay put and  forget group fitness classes so what’s a Glamour Girl to do to keep the pounds at bay? First and foremost you can still walk outside (which I highly recommend) I’ve been clocking in 2 walks daily and aiming for 10,0000 to 12,000 steps a day to keep pounds at bay. Add into that some strength training with at home weights, and a plethora of videos I’m participating in via You tube (my workout  buddy). Here are two of my favorites:

**Boho Beautiful (Yoga ) https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%23BohoBeautiful

**Coach Kel  (Barre Class)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYFIb4VS7BM

Phone Calls to stay connected: Go old school and pick up the phone. Call friends and family- it’s time to reconnect and not by text. You need some sort of human interaction.  Now more than ever it’s important to stay connected -even though we must keep “social distancing” in check. I live alone and haven’t been with anyone I know in 3 weeks. The phone has been  my life line..literally.

Time to Hobby UP! Read a good book, write that play, book or movie , bake, sing, dance, sew something -you get the picture! It’s time to insert some enjoyable tasks into your routine because let’s face it- you have a little extra time on your hands.

I hope you’re all staying healthy and happy and taking a moment of reflection to count our blessings.

Be Well, take care.  We will get through this together. xoxoT

Dior Show 2012

Raf Simons first collection for Dior Fall Winter *Garden Couture.

How are we all doing today? Are you sticking to a routine? Getting some fresh air? Finding things to do that bring a bit of joy to your life? I hope so.

I’m well aware that this  whole business of self quarantine, social distancing and 24/7  news reporting on the corona virus is NOT helping anyone lift their spirits. In fact, I find that ALL of the above – do the exact opposite. After listening to  the endless reporting on all news  sources concerning the Corona Virus,  I have decided to take a complete day away from any sort of news. Period..

That being said,I would like to  wish you a Happy FIRST DAY OF SPRING!

What better way to start the day than with some pretty petals styled so fashionably.

From me to you… I hope  and pray that you are having a beauuutiful day and take a moment to smell the roses( or petals of any sort-tulips, orchids, daffodils-I think you get the picture-breath in some beauty) … I encourage to get out of the house(if only for a moment)  and have a change of scenery to breath in some pretty greenery. …

Morning Ritual(s)

Tuesday’s Tip…. is all about your Morning Ritual. Did you know that if you have a morning ritual studies show that you will be happier, healthier and more productive. How amazing is that!

As we near the end of Summer, I thought that there’s no better time to embrace or reignite your morning routine.

Here’s the 411 on how I begin my day..most of the time: *This post was inspired by you (my lovely readers) who inquired as to how I start my day.

My Morning Ritual

  • Meditate  15- 20 minutes  (Translation: listen to my breath and try to calm my thoughts which are usually going at 100 mph already)
  • After I meditate ..Drink 1 cup hot water with lemon
  • Followed by a Protein Shake (SunWarrior Plant based protein powder)**Recipe to follow in a later post
  • Dress,Make bed, Clean up kitchen
  • Out the door by 7:00-7:15 AM

If the thought of doing anything in the early AM (besides pouring a cup of coffee) seems crazzzzzy BUT you want to embrace this whole morning ritual business, I’ve put together a few easy and very doable suggestions to get you started:

  1. Wake up 15 minutes earlier
  2. Stretch before you get out of bed (approximately 2-3 minutes of stretching)
  3. Meditate (10 minutes-listen to your own breath or put on some calming music for 10 minutes)
  4. Make a cup of hot water and squeeze one lemon wedge into a cup-sip slowly) Great early morning cleanse.
  5. Make your “to do” list for the day (List 3 things you want to get done today) .
  6. Eat breakfast…(Something nourishing… to get your system running).

A morning ritual can lead to living a happier, healthier and more productive life. YOU CAN DO THIS…Baby Steps”
