FEBRUARY

Fun Facts and Dates

  1. #FACT February is one of the most misspelled words in the English language. Yep, you read that right. February is one of the most misspelled words. What is the most misspelled word … well that honor goes to “Quarantine”. Most people thought it was spelled “Corn Teen”. Even the White House has misprinted the word “February” before in a press release.
  1. Thank you, Julius Caesar. February officially was added to the Roman Calendar in 713 BC. Julius Caesar remade the Roman Calendar and officially assigned the month 28 and 29 days.
  1. At one point it has only 23 days!  Can you image only 23 days to the month.
  1. February comes from the Latin word for “Februum”. Februum means purification and relates to a Roman Purification festival which was like an early Roman Spring Cleaning thing.
  1. No Full Moon: February is the only month where it is possible to go the entire time without having a full moon.
  1. Being Born on a Leap Year: Oh and if you are wondering there is about 1 in 1461 chance of being born on a leap year.
  1. Days in February…I had no idea some of these even existed.  I often wonder who actually comes up with these dedicated days of celebration?

February 1 – National Dark Chocolate Day not to mention the start of Luna New Year! (FYI It’s the Year of the Water Tiger)

R U Dealing with QC-Quarantine Confusion…

Posted By: Terri
Category: Humor

Is it me..or does everything seem just a bit off this week? Today is ONLY Thursday but for the life of me it feels like it should be Sunday or at the very least Saturday Granted this quarantine has really messed with any semblance of time and add into that  a holiday this past Monday and I quite frankly don’t really know what day it actually is. Perhaps I’m suffering from QC-Quarantine Confusion? It’s not really a thing but on the other hand MAYBE it is…  Are you having any problems keeping track of what day or even month it is..because not for nothing-  I sure am.

Wishing you a good day no matter what day it actually is and hopes to a happier and healthier season ahead.

xo

Happy Halloween

Everyone loves Halloween. Did you know that Halloween is the  second most popular holiday only outnumbered by Christmas. THAT is some serious holiday love.

Here in LA, they  close an entire boulevard down smack dab in the middle of West Hollywood and have a parade. Now just between you and I, they may call it a “parade” but reallllly it’s a costume extravaganza to beat all other costume parties on the planet.  I’m not one to partake in this event because quite frankly I am over 30 and don’t care to be stuck in gridlock traffic for 3-4 hours. For those that do partake- I say: “Enjoy and parade away.” It’s Halloween and what a treat to see people so happy about the SECOND most celebrated holiday of the year.

Time to Boot Up?

Posted By: Terri
Category: Humor

My brief “Retail Rant….”

August 15, the official mid-point of the month and in retail terms basically Fall! Good luck finding any summer footwear in sight but instead peruse through any store, be it the mall, free standing boutique,or discount (Marshalls/TJ Maxx etc) and you know what you’re going to find-not some summer sandal -all pretty and perky and ready for that last Summer BBQ on Labor Day  but instead you will be deluged with a lovely selection of BOOTS. Lots and lots of  winter boots have suddenly shown up in this 100 degree heat wave in Los Angeles and none to soon because you are going to be needing them in about 2 more months when we dip under 70 degrees.

Now just to be clear, I love boots, reallly I do- I have oodles of them in my closet BUT here’s the thing about my little rant today-I truly wish the powers that be in retail would embrace the thought of having items be available seasonally. It seems that we are rushing everything these days and when I walk into a store at the end of July and spot not only Halloween items but faux Xmas trees lined up in a row for as far as your eye can go- I get a proverbial “bee in my bonnet” and think that we all need to slow down just a tad and really start living more in the moment. That means …retailers  holding off for maybe a tish longer on items we don’t remotely need for another 2 months and give us the goods we need now. Just a thought. Rant officially over.
