The Oscar 2016 Red Carpet had all the usual suspects…Charlize, Cate, Lady Gaga,Heidi, and a number of new comers Alicia, Priyanka, Saoirse and Margot in Gucci, Marchesa, Armani, Vuitton, Calvin (Klein) and Zurhair Murad. Basically another night of glitz and glam or as I say and I quote: One of my favorite nights of the year because a girl can never have toooo much sparkle.

The Met Gala aka “Prom Night” for the fashion industry was held this evening and there were gowns galore on the Red Carpet. Host Anna Wintour has proclaimed that no selfies or cameras were allowed inside the event. Good luck with that!

Oscar Gown 2015-Round Up
In a word I was underwhelmed this year with the parade of Oscar Gowns. Usually there are a number of jaw dropping dresses that parade the Red Carpet on Academy Award Night but this year….not so much. I don’t know if it was the sudden rain in LA that brought about the dreaded 3D (Designer Dress Delay) or maybe celebrity stylists simply lost steam with all the numerous award shows in the last month. Whatever the case the dresses were beautiful but none in my opinion will go on the books as memorable. That being said here are a few of the stand outs….

Grammy fashion is always a bit more edgy than the Golden Globes, SAG or Academy Award Red Carpets. The one common thread for any attendee at an award show is that you want to be remembered -hopefully in a good way BUT then again there is always Madonna and Miley Cyrus to keep us on our toes .
My favorite of the evening was hands down Taylor Swift-the girl is supermodel material and flawless followed by Gwen Stefani and Anna Kendrick who pulled of the “basic” black tux but took it up a notch or three. And then…. there was Madonna-Ohhhh Madonna how I wish you could embrace the thought that the younger you dress the older you appear. Not good on so many levels. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the evening (wait for it)was Mylie Cyrus-she was wearing clothes. Thank you!

As much as we all try to make nice when it comes to critiquing awards season fashion you KNOW there will always be a few who miss the mark. To my dismay I have to call out the uber talented Meryl Streep= not because we don’t like a little black dress (LBD) but more about wearing something so basic when your talent is anything but….so I beg you dear Meryl please wear something worthy of the star that you are-we love your work and more importantly…. you.
Note to our lovely Julia Roberts.-the outfit was so close and ye so far from being truly Red Carpet worthy. A little tailoring and a closed toe pump would take this look from so to fabu on you.
Kelly Osbourne-There are no words-you can do better.
Julianna Marguilis-You are perfection but this dress is wearing you. Note-it should be the other way around.

The Golden Globes Red Carpet didn’t disappoint tonight. It was a cavalcade of beautiful gowns and per every Red Carpet a few …..well” not so beautiful” but let’s stay on point.

I couldn’t help but notice that many of the gowns were in one of three categories: beaded in a silver or white, ravishing red and wonderful white. Sure there were a few that deviated from the mainstream-..Naomi Watts in vibrant yellow and a fair amount of black (gorgeous Amal Alamuddin/Clooney) but as a whole it was a three-peat Bling, Red or White. Look for a repeat during the remaining awards ceremonies… I’ll keep you posted. Here are just a few of my favorites. For more images click on Go To Glamour Girl Facebook page.
