National Lipstick Day….

Posted By: Terri
Category: Beauty

It’s National Lipstick Day which usually puts a little skip in my step but suffice it to say there’s not been a whole lot of Lipstick vibe since our mouth must be covered with masks during  Covid 19. But looking on the BRIGHT side of things-somedayyyyy we will be back in good graces and be able to once again show our pearly whites with masks a thing of the past and then we can perfect our pout with the prettiest of lipstick shades. Until then, mask on,stay safe and when push comes to shove might I suggest a little lip liner-since it’s a bit of color when the mask does come down and leaves less marks than lipstick on your face mask.  TO celebrate the day here are a few fun facts pertaining to this wonderful make-up addition: I don’t know about you but I for one LOVE a great shade of lipstick!

Fun and Fabulous Lipstick Tips..

Tip– When applying foundation continue over the lips to provide a base for lip liner and lipstick.

Tip– If your lipstick smells rancid, it is! Want it to last longer? Place it in the fridge.

Tip- Wrong lipstick shades can age you, steer clear of brown lipstick shades. Avoid matte lipstick as they tend to settle into your lip lines. Instead, try creamier lipsticks or glosses. Glosses are especially youthful and make your lips appear “pouty”.

Tip- Here’s a simple trick I once read models use to keep lipstick off their teeth. Apply lipstick, then place a finger in your mouth. Close lips around your finger and pull finger out. This should remove any excess lipstick, thereby keeping it from collecting on your teeth.

Fact- Every woman today absolutely automatically applies lipstick before going out of home. This habit is very old indeed: women began to apply lipstick in primeval times.

Fact- In old times, noble Japanese women were not allowed to appear in public without intensive makeup.

Fact- In ancient Egypt, women loved to tint their lips with attractive purple-red color.

Fact- During the Middle Ages, the popularity of lipstick declined. In that era, lipstick was considered to be a cosmetic which is suitable for prostitutes and lower class women.

Fact- More lipsticks are sold on a gloomy, rainy day.

Getting Back on Track….

Posted By: Terri
Category: Health & Wellness Uncategorized

Here we are,the start of another work week and I will absolutely cop to the fact that  I for one have not been as productive as I would like. Which begs me to ask if you are finding yourself in a similar situation? The isolation of the Pandemic and ongoing lock down in California have made  keeping a schedule seem lack luster at best. If I were to summarize this year -I would have to say that 2020 seems like the  longggest Groundhog day ever.

As  my intention is always to provide uplifting and motivating content for you my lovely readers, I have compiled a little “to do”list to get  us all back on track and keep us focused on our goals for the future. Because (being the eternal optimist) somedayyyyy this will be behind us and wouldn’t it be nice to be in a place where we find ourselves ready and better than ever to bring new ideas, projects and dreams to fruition.

Here’s celebrating all you can do !

Now let’s get going shall we:

  1. If you’re working from home you must carve out a dedicated space to do your work. A quiet area with good lighting, ample desk space and a comfortable chair are key!

The Go To Glamour Girl Home Office……

2. Make a schedule and stick to it. What do you want to get accomplished this week, this month,or this year?I find that oftentimes it’s best to take things day by day or at the very most week to week so you can have a sense of accomplishment in these unsettling times. Everything can be accomplished if you take BABY STEPS toward your goal each and every day.

3. Schedule a little “Break time” in your day. Take time to work out, get out of your work space or do something enjoyable every couple of hours. It serves as a refresh and a reset so you can go back to your work area and be productive.

4. Eliminate distractions. O.K. This is a biggie. Turn off cell phones, TV, anything and everything that pulls your focus from concentrating on the task(s) at hand. I have sourced a number of friends and asked what their biggest time waster of the day is..and ALL say the cell phone. We all find ourselves scrolling Instagram, Twitter, etc. So when in doubt turn off all distracting electronic devices for an hour or more and give yourself the luxury of having complete concentration on what you want to accomplish.

5. Plan to work a normal work week-that’s 5 days, 6 tops! We all need time to regroup and I found if I’m in my office 7 days a week I’m not as productive or creative.

Easy Breezy Summer Salad

Category: Fashionable Food/Recipes

Did someone say Summer Salad?

I have got a delicious and easy breezy recipe to share today.  All  ingredients are organic and the best part is ….you can throw this  together in a matter of minutes-yes you heard me Minutes! Super easy. fast and delish.

If you need an EXACT recipe with fine tuned measuring – keep looking . This recipe is more  about how much of each ingredient YOU prefer. However, I’m posting  what I do as a sort of “guideline.”

This summer salad is a winner. You ‘ll delight in how  yummy and healthy it is for you. ENJOY!

* (P.S.-All items  are from Traders Joe’s )

Easy Breezy Summer Salad

  • 3 Organic Persian Cucumbers
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup Organic Sugar Plum Tomatoes
  • 1 Large Beet cut up *(I use Trader Joe’s Beets in Vinaigrette -It’s Fantastic and I take about 5 larger pieces from jar and cut them smaller and add to salad)
  • 1/4 cup feta

Sprinkle with Trader Joe’s Roasted and Unsalted Sunflower Seeds

Dressing: 2 options:

  1. Lightly dress with Vinaigrette from Beets) *and lightly drizzle with honey
  2. Lightly dress with EVOO and drizzle with honey

You can serve immediately or cover and chill in fridge for later.

Mirror Glam

“Mirror Mirror on the Wall”

Today is all about Mirrors. If you’re looking for a one stop shop to make a room look larger or perhaps add a bit of GLAM (which in my mind is always paramount in any room) the addition of one spectacular mirror  or mirrored anything for that matter is the absolute way to go!

Image Courtesy of Horchow.com *Check out this site for some pretty fabulous mirror decor.

The decorating ideas are endless when it comes to mirrors-a well placed mirror can:

  • Make a room look larger
  • Reflect pieces in a room you want highlighted more than once (Hence the term-“Mirror Mirror on the wall”-(reflection from a mirror allows you to see it twice in a space).
  • Adds depth to any room
  • Adds sparkle ( my personal fave)

That’s quite a task for one design item.

Here are a few images I hope will inspire.

*If you’re  thinking that a large ornate mirror is not in your budget never fear-it’s an easy solution when you buy a  plain large mirror  and purchase molding (be it ornate or with simplified lines) and frame it out yourself. (see example below)

Inexpensive mirror framed in simple molding and painted-whah lah instant mirror decor)

Happy Monday. I hope you had a relaxing weekend!

Another week is upon us and as hard as it may be to stay motivated while we continue to live in Pandemic limbo (at least that’s what I call it) – I find that’s  it’s a good  idea to start the work week off  with a renewed sense of focus.  During these times of lock down- it’s good to keep your “eye on the prize” as they say and focus yourself at the start of each week on a plan of success.  Here’s the”short list” of streamlined items to keep you focused on bringing out the best in you.
