Monday Mood & Tips to get you through…

Posted By: Terri
Category: Monday Mantra

Hello Monday! Did you ever have one of those nights when you didn’t sleep a wink. Wellll that was me last night -suffice it to say this is pretty much my mood today. Try as we all may to make this a great day…tired or not! WIshing you a vibrant week ahead. xoT

Tips to get you through the day when you didn’t sleep the night before:

  1. Drink lots of water…I mean like Titanic amounts of water. Hydrate hydrate hydrate. It will cleanse your system and keep you going. If you add  a squirt of organic lemon to your water all the better!
  2. Exercise. I know you’re probably thinking Yeah right. I’m exhausted BUT moving the body keeps you moving throughout the day. You don’t have to run a marathon, go for a brisk walk, lift some light weights. Just get your metabolism up .
  3. Cold Water Splash:  My Mother always told me after getting up-“Go and splash some cold water on your face.” I’m here to say that she was spot on with this one. Not only does the cold water revitalize your pores but it certainly does wake you up.
  4. Eat Healthy: I know it sounds like a no brainer but a lack of sleep makes us numb to our senses and by senses I mean we crave sweets.
  5. Quick Nap: If at all possible try and take a 20 minute nap sometime during the day but preferably in the afternoon. If you make it past 4 PM  without closing your eyes for a moment then just muscle through till bedtime.
  6. Get to Bed Early: Turn off the computer and ALL electronic devices no later than 7 PM. Try  a bath with lavender Epsom salts, do some nighttime yoga or sip on some Sleepy time tea. You get the picture-UNPLUG and get in slumber mode.

Let’s talk about …The Leopard Print Pencil Skirt

Posted By: Terri
Category: Fashion tips

Happy Monday. My day started out with a wonderful style question:

What does one pair with a leopard print pencil skirt?

First off-I L.O.V.E. animal print and have a few basic style rules that should help you navigate on how to wear this print to your best advantage:

1. Wear only ONE animal print at a time. Translation. The only time  different animal prints should be paired together is at the Zoo and even then it can get dicey.(Translation) I don’t recommend pairing a leopard print with a zebra print. Choose one print and stick to  that as being your statement piece.

Only wear ONE animal print at a time.

2. Leopard is a neutral.. Feel free to pair your animal print item with just about anything and everything but use restraint. Leopard can be paired with solid colors from black to vibrant hues, stripes, plaids and denim. However, it’s best to choose ONE and make your outfit cohesive.

Plush pairing: Plaid & Animal Print

3. Fit is Key  This rule is the number one mantra for looking chic! Like anything and everything you wear fit is the absolute deal maker or breaker when it comes to looking your best.

4. Faux is the ONLY way to go! I am a major animal advocate so I must say that FAUX is the only way to go when it comes to purchasing animal print anything. Faux animal prints have gotten so high tech they look like the real thing and nobody gets hurt

Top it OFF: A basic white blouse or tee, a beautiful red sweater or blouse, basic black crew, sweater or jacket  or opt out for a tan plan.

Jacket options to layer over animal print skirts  are endless:  Go bright to black, denim and motorcycle styles. All work well just make sure you check proportion for your body type.

Footwear: Depending on your look -(sporty, casual, dressy) pair your animal print skirt with  a bevy of beautiful footwear options from sandals to sneakers, flats, pumps and boots .

  • For a look of sophistication and elegance: Add a solid color sweater/blouse and coordinating Blazer/Jacket to elevate your look. You could also add pumps to match. However I do love the basic black strappy pointed toe pump.

It’s TIME for a Sweet Treat

Happy Friday!

Congratulations! You made it through another week. Let’s take a  collective moment and savor the sweetness of life..(translation)-let’s take a break and indulge if only just a little in the sweet treats of the season.

With Halloween fast approaching, many of us are sequestered to Trick or Treating in our own homes. Not exactly what we had in mind but we must make do and I have a suggestion to make it fun for you and your whole family. Why not put together some sweet treat boards filled with fun items for people in your home to indulge and enjoy. I have sourced a few inspiration boards for the adults and also for the children since Trick or Treating is supposed to be for the smaller ones but adults should not be denied a little bit of fun. Many of the boards are filled with ready made treats (sooo) no cooking required and when you do choose to cook you can add some festive cupcakes, cookies and candies for the season.

Melt some Chocolate and start dipping…Here’s a short list of items to consider BUT the options are endless:

Fresh Fruit: Apple, Bananas, Mango, Blueberries, Pineapple, Strawberries

Dried fruit & Nuts

Snacks: Chocolate Chip Cookies, Graham Crackers, Oreos, Biscotti, Rice Crispy Treats.

*Consider adding a side of Whipping Cream.

Happy Monday. I hope you had a good weekend and are starting another week feeling happy and healthy.

Last night I watched one of my favorite movies AGAIN, because quite frankly I needed a little lift  and I was reminded of this wonderful quote .

We must be the LEADING LADY  in our own life. Don’t take a back seat to anyone or anything. You have a wonderful purpose to pursue and my hope is that each day you will show up and live to be the best version of YOU.xoT

Quote from the movie The Holiday (2006)

Movie by one of my all time favorite talents.

Writer/Producer & Director Nancy Meyers.

Category: Glamorous Decor

It’s that time of year again when pumpkins are appearing everywhere.

Nowww I ‘m well aware that in many areas of our country, Halloween is pretty much DOA- due to this ongoing Pandemic & social distancing. But, that certainly doesn’t mean that we can’t add a some  PUMPKIN PANACHE  to your PORCH.

Pumpkins are so affordable and available at every grocery, craft store, farmers market and roadside stand.  Not to mention the bevy of decorating options you can use to primp your pumpkin to perfection.

Since we may just have a little extra time on our hands because in most cases you won’t be scrambling to put a costume together. perhaps take that creative mojo and put it into making your pumpkin selections extra pretty this year. Goodness knows we could all use a little does of HAPPY and Pumpkins are one of those Decor items that bring joy! Below are a few pumpkin pairings that  I hope will inspire you to “pretty up” your pumpkins for Fall. Happy decorating!
