A great pair of summer shades are a Glamour Girl “must have” item. Available in a number of styles including aviators, square frame, round frame, cat eye or oversized-the options are endless. You can find a perfect pair of shades at every price point and there’s only one important fashion rule to follow when selecting your sunglasses: Make sure the frames flatter your face and accent your best features. Easy peezy!
Don’t you just hate it when you find something on the web and before you can click the BUY Button, said item is …SOLD OUT! Whah.h.h.h.t happened! It was there just a minute ago. Is the internet toying with me???
I know that every Glamour Girl has experienced this shopping scenario. The perfect purchase plucked out from underneath us…only to leave us wishing and wanting for the RESTOCK button to appear in a day or two.
This was the case when I found these FABU chairs on the Mondani website. They would have been the perfect addition to the Glamour Girl office. What’s more… they were on SALE!!! Ta-dah-dah-dah!! I thought it was a favor from the fashion God’s! But, it was not to be. The chairs were sold out faster than I could say “send it!”
The Glamour Girl lesson for today was: When shopping online: Never Sit on a Sale item. Push the purchase button and hit send before the item is sold out!
Better luck next time….
Coco Chanel-the LBD Birthmother!
Blame it on Coco-the originator of the LBD-possibly the best invention in fashion… EVER!!!
The “little black dress” is considered “THE” wardrobe essential. Coco Chanel originally designed the LBD in 1926 as a dress that was functional yet chic, wouldn’t show stains and would fit every woman. American Vogue referred to the LBD as the “Ford of Fashion”in reference to Henry Ford’s Model T. Needless to say this is one wardrobe item that has certainly stood the test of time.
The LBD is still the one item that every woman must own. Here are a few tips if you buy only one… (If that’s even possible)….:
The LBD Guidelines
•1. Purchase the simplest of styles when it comes to the LBD. The less detail aka, ruffles, pleating, puckering etc. the better. KEEP IT SIMPLE!
•2. Buy the best fabrication you can possibly afford. Crepe is great. So is lightweight wool. Cotton with a hint of spandex helps define shape but avoid any fabric that wrinkles.
•3. Look for a perfect fit. Make sure it doesn’t pull at the bust, waist hip or underarm. If it does- go up a size and have it altered.
•4. The perfect length for most women is at or just above the knee. You don’t want a dress to hit mid-calf unless you’re over 6 feet and want to look shorter or heavier. Is there anyone that wants that? I think not. (O.K. maybe Giselle Buncheon but she is a freak of nature because she is so beautiful and that doesn’t count.)
5. In choosing a simple black dress rest assured that you can dress it up or down with your choice of shoes, stockings, or accessories…the whole aim of the LBD- is to be versatile…yet chic.
6. Thank Coco!
