I saw this coming a mile away.

No…..really, I did!

When you look at the whimsical designs of shoe designer extraordinaire Sophia Webster  and pair it with the first pair of pumps you ever put on  anyone (aka Barbie probably sometime around the age of 3 or 4) it only makes sense that eventually the two would collide on a major collab.   Yep-as of August 27,2015 Selfridges will be debuting just such  a collection in a positively pink assortment of pumps, sandals and sneakers.  They have the Barbie logo, there’s glitter and glam and all the things that made us Barbie fans from the beginning.

My mother  (a fashion designer in her own right) always said  that “Good taste never goes out of style.” The similarity of these two gowns … designed more than 40 years apart is a testament to that! Style does indeed endure forever.

Barbie gets all dolled Up!!!!

I ask you…Who doesn’t LOVE Barbie? Exactly… Everyone!  Well, imagine my surprise as I was surfing the web when BHAM…I came across a new line of Barbie dolls designed for Adult Barbie Collectors. Who Knew???  This SPECIAL EDITION aptly named: The Barbie Fashion Model Collection, has been around since the year 2000. (Where have I been???) Since it’s inception in 2000, there have been 12 different themed collections. (One for each year. great MATH skills? yes…) The “theme” for 2012 is “Atelier” and is designed by  Robert Best. Mr. Best took inspiration from Europe’s couture workshops and fashion houses to create a lineup of beautiful and intricately detailed high-fashion pieces. The 2012 Barbie Fashion Model Collection celebrates “Barbie’s glamorous heritage and style from the golden era of Hollywood to modern-day Paris.”

Each and every sketch is “beyond beautiful” and can only make a Glamour Girl hope for a”Capsule Collection” coming to Target in the not to distant future. Hey….a girl can dream can’t she?!

Mad Fashion…Program Note…

I LOVE Chris March. From the moment he appeared on Project Runway with all his interesting fashion designs (outfits made from human hair)  his exuberance, (Tim Gunn term) and that laugh…

In case you missed the latest on Chris March-Bravo TV finally gave him his own show called: Chris March Mad Fashion. This man brings the fashion credo of “Over the Top” to a whole new dimension. Last nights episode showed Chris and Company, having to design life size Barbie dresses for the Simmons Sisters. Seems the sisters  (Angela and Vanessa  …daughters of hip hop artist Reverend  Run of Run DMC(which clearly qualifies one to be a fashion designer in their own right.Right?) have commissioned Chris to design  life size Barbie creations for an event that they will be attending since they too design a line of Barbie clothes  entitled”So In Style Barbie.” Chris & Company  produced not one but two fabulous looks and I only wish that the pictures would do them justice. These dresses were” “To Die For” and so Barbie worthy. Let’s face it – every Glamour Girl   wanted to be Barbie when she was young and all men want to marry a girl that looks like Barbie…In the words of Tim Gunn…”Carry on”…We love you Chris March and all your crazy  mad fashion creations.!!!!

Watch Mad Fashion on Bravo Tuesday Nights..check your local listing – you won’t be disappointed!

Every "Barbie Inspired Outfit" should have a crown!

THAT is one fabulous Bustier!

This dress was to DIE FOR!

"Over the Top Tulle"-Only Chris March could do! FABU!

Sweet Sensation!

How did I miss this? Last year ( March 11, 2009, to be exact) there was a big hoopla to celebrate Barbie turning 50. Now if Barbie were actually a living, breathing, human being she would perhaps be going through menopause BUT alas Barbie, is a doll made of plastic and sculpted to perfection -still looking like she is a young woman of 18. (Do you think Demi Moore, has the same gene pool as Barbie—just wondering)????

To celebrate Barbie’s 50th birthday, in Sydney, Australia, Mattel unveiled a nearly seven-foot tall “Barbie doll” chocolate mud cake. The 2,645 lb cake was covered in gold icing, gold silk, and 2,000 Swarovski crystals valued at $50,000, and was based on the design for the limited edition 50th Anniversary Barbie Doll.

The cake was designed by Australian fashion designer Alex Perry, jewelry designer Stefano Canturi, and hairdresser Joh Bailey, in collaboration with Sweet Art bakers.

Happy  “Very Belated” Birthday Barbie!
