Sensational Shoe Shelving

I have a sneaking suspicion that you and I have more than a few things in common. ( How do I know this..Well, I’m not a psychic but if you’re reading my blog you most likely have a hankering for fashion).

For instance..if I were to guess…You probably own a “number (usually in the double digits)  of very pretty shoes that one might even consider “Works of Art.” Now,  I’m not proposing  that these pretty shoes be put in a  museum, absolutely not (beautiful shoes are meant to be worn) BUT, if you happen to be needing some additional storage space for these “Oh so special & pretty pairs” I have a little DIY solution for you  today.

I have uncovered not one but two creative ways to display and store shoes that are  DIY- doable  and assembled with materials that are easy to find!

If you’re looking for ways to display your prettiest pairs or just need some wall art..this might just do the trick.

Small entrance table and frame molding cut up/painted white/ mounted and arranged on the wall. Whah lah..wall art & shoe storage all in one!

**Shelf doesn’t have to be made of wood! Even books can do the same! This wall is awesomely decorated with shelves made of book to display an array of stylish footwear. What’s great is that making them is not that hard at all. You can use L-brackets as the base to secure the book. Make sure the book pages is glued tightly so they won’t be flipping around when the wind blows. You can also spray coat the exterior with protective coating to protect its surface.

Shop…YOUR CLOSET

January. THAT time of year when you make resolutions and vow to up the ante on your life.

First on the list is usually your closet because let’s face it nothing can elevate your mood faster  than putting something on that makes you feel beautiful and confident. (At least that’s what your clothing is supposed to do). Yet, we often walk into our jammed packet closets and exclaim “I have nothing to wear! “

Now before you hit the mall looking for the next item to add to your already packed wardrobe or start shopping online at warp speed might I suggest  that you “shop your closet.” Yep, you heard me. Go into your closet and take a few of your absolute favorite pieces and pair them with items that you haven’t before. For example:

You have the perfect blazer that makes you feel fabuuulous. It’s tailored to perfection and you always wear it with the same pair of jeans,so why not try it

  • with another pair of jeans in a different color or shape,
  • or dress it up with a basic pair of black pants and a really dressy blouse.
  • mix it with a sweater instead of a tee or maybe
  • add some amazing statement jewelry

The thought of using what you already have isn’t revolutionary but we all get stuck in this mindset of wearing the same items over and over again and NOW is the perfect time to shake things up a bit and use what you already have …in a new and different way. With all these options you may find yourself walking into your closet and thinking…A closet full of clothes and I have so so much to wear.” Revolutionary.

Here are a few examples that I hope will get you running into your closet and doing a little remix of your own.

Take your basic black and make it NOT so basic

Add a sparkle top with jeans and your wool jacket. *(usually reserved for evening.. wear for daytime)

Add a dressy blouse instead of your everyday tshirt

Mix textures in a monochromatic hue
