This & That (Items of Interest)

Today I have a recap of things that I have been loving!

Full disclosure- I’ve been in bed  for almost 2 solid weeks with shingles (Yes, you read that right-Shingles-and I am here to report it is not fun)! But, on the bright side, I’ve had time to read a pretty amazing book, binge watched a Netflix show that kept me on the edge of my seat and viewed collections from New York Fashion Week via Vogue.com.

Soooo without further ado, I want to share my recommendations with you:

Something to Read

One of the best books I’ve read in a very long time (seriously it kept me on the edge of my seat). A thrilling novel by Katherine St. John.

The guest list is small and exclusive. But there’s blood in the water…
A dream vacation for six friends turns deadly in this pulse-pounding, twisting thriller of secrets and revenge…

Clever twists abound . . . Fans of Liane Moriarty and Jessica Knoll will devour this’ Booklist
‘A very juicy thriller’ Cosmopolitan
‘Truly a thriller in every sense of the word. It made my heart race.*****’A reader

Something to Watch

‘This whole story is true, except for the parts that are completely made up.”

Watch Inventing Anna | Netflix Official Site

https://www.netflix.com › title

Audacious entrepreneur or con artist? A reporter digs into how Anna Delvey convinced New York’s elite she was a German heiress. Based on a true story.

Falling for Fringe….

Posted By: Terri
Category: Fashion

It’s 111 degrees in Los Angeles today. In case you missed all the weather reports as of late we have been in a major hot spell so it’s probably no big surprise when I say that Fall fashion is not exactly at the top of my list. That was until IT happened today. There I was at about mile 3 on my morning treadmill paging through the Vogue September issue  and BAM..there IT was- pages and pages of fabulous fashion with fringe. Yep, Fringe! There is fringe on just about everything.Handbags and boots, suede coats and skirts-it ‘s hedging on what one might call a fringe fest. I must admit I was never a big fan of fringe but this fringe of Fall 2014-well it looks so sleek, so elegant,so polished-truth be told I am falling for fringe  BIG TIME!

The LBLL Dress…(Little Black Leather Dress)…

Helmut Lang Twisted Tuck Leather Dress

Jay Godfrey Faux Leather Dress

Leather Dress by Vince

O.K. So I’m on a bit of a Little Black Dress kick this week. There is nothing better than a great looking  LBL to get you dressed and out the door looking chic and sophisticated in a matter of minutes.  If you’re looking to add a little bit of edge to your LBLL ,might I suggest one made out of leather or at the very least a  faux leather that looks so authentic… you’ll have to look twice. I came across a number of leather dresses that are sleek and chic and one really great faux number that I think you’ll ADORE!

Here are a few LBLL guidelines to keep you looking Glamour Girl ready :

Rule Number One: When shopping for a leather dress keep in mind that it MUST be lined. I stand firm on this rule because as you may know-leather can stretch and to avoid having any type of material sag it’s best to “line and be fine” than to “sag and look like a bag.” Trust me on this one!

If you’re going for broke (which you may have to do because most leather dresses run from the $700-$2900.00 range) -purchase the best possible quality that you can afford. If you can’t afford the real deal-don’t fret-their are so many faux options that will fit the bill and your budget. ( P.S. Kathie Lee Gifford wore a Donna Morgan Faux Leather Dress on the Today show  10/13/2011)and it was FABU!!!

Like all things apparel FIT IS KEY!!!! When it comes to leather this is the MOST important part of the puzzle. When in doubt buy a size larger and have it tailored to your smaller measurements. The worst thing in the world is to spend a good amount of money and have the dress puckering and pulling because the label inside the dress was the size you want to be instead of the size you are.

If you have gobs of cash then omit this suggestion but if money is a concern I highly recommend buying a classic shape for maximum wear ability. Their called “Classics” for a reason.

Faux is the way to Go!

Posted By: Terri
Category: Fashion Fashion tips

I’m a big fan of faux. Truth be told I have owned a few of my favorite faux coats/jackets/and assorted sundry apparel items for longer than I care to admit. Not that I should be ashamed of holding on to my faux for so long. The beauty of faux is that it can last forever-(if you take care of it and buy a classic shape). When you wear faux fur you are also doing your part for saving animals and let’s face it, there is nothing worse than pissing off the peeps at PETA. I’m all for animal rights but some of those PETA people can be quite abrasive. Faux is so easy to care for and if you find yourself in a rainstorm by some unforeseen quirk of nature it bounces right back after drying. While real fur can keep you very very warm, faux fur gives you the option of wear ability both indoor and out during the cold weather months. When temps dip just add a few more layers of clothing underneath and still look sleek and sophisticated With all these wonderful wear ability options..I think you’ll agree that faux is the way to go!!!

The Michael Kors Lifestyle/Fall 2011…

Posted By: Terri
Category: Designer Spotlight Fashion

What can I say about Michael Kors, that hasn’t already been said. He is the quintessential American designer who single handedly took American classics and turned them up a notch…or two or ten! Think Jackie O amped up to J. Lo “bling status.”  His currentl Fall 2011 clothing collection is filled with luxe fabrications tailored so beautifully that they make any women who wears them a style icon in her own right. Recently the Kors brand has expanded into jewelry (will feature this collection at a later date-promise…) and continues his line of accessories including handbags, sunglasses and shoes all working in tandem to give the Kors devotee a wardrobe that is timeless and uber chic.

An American in Paris…

Posted By: Terri
Category: Fashion

An American has landed in Paris. So what’s the big deal?  It just so happens that the American we are speaking of is deemed: “The  Quintessential American Designer of our Time”- Mr. Michael Kors.

Mr. Kors just celebrated his thirtieth birthday in the fashion biz and like most are inclined to do when they reach a major milestone-Michael decided to do something  BIG.  If you know anything about Michael Kors ,he does everything with style, flare and on a grand scale. Let me tell you Glamour Girl, Michael was not messing around when he decided to cross the pond – and open his largest store to date in Paris. The 7,000 sq ft, (and yes, you are reading that number right and no, I didn’t add an extra zero), two-storey Michael Kors store is  located on rue Saint-Honoré, a short stroll away from Colette, and is the largest storefront in his 175-shop chain around the world.
