National Lipstick Day….

It’s National Lipstick Day which usually puts a little skip in my step but suffice it to say there’s not been a whole lot of Lipstick vibe since our mouth must be covered with masks during  Covid 19. But looking on the BRIGHT side of things-somedayyyyy we will be back in good graces and be able to once again show our pearly whites with masks a thing of the past and then we can perfect our pout with the prettiest of lipstick shades. Until then, mask on,stay safe and when push comes to shove might I suggest a little lip liner-since it’s a bit of color when the mask does come down and leaves less marks than lipstick on your face mask.  TO celebrate the day here are a few fun facts pertaining to this wonderful make-up addition: I don’t know about you but I for one LOVE a great shade of lipstick!

Fun and Fabulous Lipstick Tips..

Tip– When applying foundation continue over the lips to provide a base for lip liner and lipstick.

Tip– If your lipstick smells rancid, it is! Want it to last longer? Place it in the fridge.

Tip- Wrong lipstick shades can age you, steer clear of brown lipstick shades. Avoid matte lipstick as they tend to settle into your lip lines. Instead, try creamier lipsticks or glosses. Glosses are especially youthful and make your lips appear “pouty”.

Tip- Here’s a simple trick I once read models use to keep lipstick off their teeth. Apply lipstick, then place a finger in your mouth. Close lips around your finger and pull finger out. This should remove any excess lipstick, thereby keeping it from collecting on your teeth.

Fact- Every woman today absolutely automatically applies lipstick before going out of home. This habit is very old indeed: women began to apply lipstick in primeval times.

Fact- In old times, noble Japanese women were not allowed to appear in public without intensive makeup.

Fact- In ancient Egypt, women loved to tint their lips with attractive purple-red color.

Fact- During the Middle Ages, the popularity of lipstick declined. In that era, lipstick was considered to be a cosmetic which is suitable for prostitutes and lower class women.

Fact- More lipsticks are sold on a gloomy, rainy day.

I have no idea when this actually started but just in case you missed the memo this Saturday July 29,2017 is  being deemed as National Lipstick Day! Who Knew? Well now both you and I do. And just to get the ball rolling or shall I say the lipstick tube swirling- the lovely people at MAC are offering a FREE..(YES you are reading that right) a FREEE tube of MAC lipstick to the first customers on hand until supplies run out. Now truth be told the article that I uncovered this little lipstick tidbit of info on which is a verrry reliable source (Glamour.com) states that supplies and locations are limited BUT this not only applies to MAC Boutiques but anywhere MAC is sold.  (Below is the posting on Glamour..com-just in case you get any questions on the link and if you need verification click on the lipstick pic and whah lah there you are at the original posting to announce said giveaway)

*Bear in mind that supplies are limited but in my opinion it’s a lovely way to start the official celebration of National Lipstick Day!

From the Original Posting on Glamour .com

Get yourself to a MAC store or retailer on July 29 (this Saturday) to snag a free, full-sized, normally $17 lipstick while supplies last (stock varies by location). The brand says to get there early, which makes sense. The lines are no doubt going to be insane—the phrase “free for all” just got real. The only limits are it’s exclusive to U.S. stores and MAC counters. And we double-checked on this one: No worries if you don’t live near a boutique, everywhere MAC’s sold is participating in the promo. Say hello Ulta!!!

National Lipstick Day

Today is National Lipstick Day-who knew?! I came across this little tidbit of information while sourcing for another item and felt dutiful to share. Whatever your penchant to pop up your pucker goodness knows the color options are endless.

And just to make National Lipstick Day even more memorable-here are a bevy of beauty lipstick hacks that are “Oh, so good to know!” courtesy of (http://www.glamour.com)

lipstick all colors

Save a broken, crushed, or melted lipstick by: buying a small plastic container from the drugstore (like the type used to hold medicine). “Melt the bullet down or simply crush it into the pot and apply with a lip brush.”

  1. Punch up a sheer lipstick by: “applying a similar or brighter shade underneath.”
  2. Make your color last longer by: applying, blotting with a tissue, dusting with any type of loose powder, and then applying another coat of color.
  3. Mix your own color by: deciding if you want it to look brighter or deeper and mixing in whichever to move your starter shade in the right direction. “Don’t forget, you can use a matte color as a base and top off with a different color sheer.”
  4. Fight lipstick on the teeth by: putting your pointer finger in your mouth, puckering, and pulling it out. Any rogue lipstick will land on your finger, not your chompers.
  5. Get a rich color to go on like a stain by: using your finger or lip brush to apply rather than pulling the lipstick itself over your lips.
  6. Make a glossy color matte by: finishing it off with by tapping a similar color powder blush over the lips with your finger.
  7. Avoid color creeping outside of your lips by: lining with a clear lip pencil before lipstick.
  8. Do a DIY stain by using: Kool-Aid. This genius move involves wetting your finger, patting powder mix onto your lips, and smoothing it out with a moist cotton swab.
  9. Fake full lips by: coating your favorite lipstick with shimmery white or pale pink powder or eyeshadow.
  10. Re-form a bullet that’s gotten wonky by: heating it for a few seconds with your hair dryer and using your fingers to fix the shape. To really seal the deal, place it in your freezer.
