Nina Garcia (Editor of Marie Claire and Project Runway judge) is always perfectly put together and her comments on Project Runway are direct and to the point so it’s really no surprise that her closet should follow the same discipline. Nina’s  Manhatten  apartment was featured in Architectural Digest and of course we had to take a peak inside of her fabulous closet. It’s a designers dream and organized within every inch.

Remember the adorable and loveable Chris March (Designer that worked with human hair on Project Runway Season 4)? Well… he is back in a big way with headwear for Halloween. Yep, you heard me”Headwear for Halloween.” There I was cruising through Target for the usual home goods and BAM I run smack dab into these AMAZING  pieces designed by Mr. March. So creative and colorful this headgear will definitely make your costume this Halloween.

Project Runway Major Meltdown

Posted By: Terri
Category: Fashion

Lat night, Project Runway’s “Taylor Made Challenge”  should have been titled “Taylor Made  Meltdown.”Who can blame these overworked, overstressed, overtired designers as they try to create magic in challenges that offer less than a 24 hour window to create. It’s called a “creative process “for a reason. Week after week… having to design garments in less time than it takes to prepare a turkey dinner  can be so.o.o.o stressful.  As the competition continues, I have softened on a number of designers that I once wasn’t so fond of: (Elena and Gunnar) and grown a strong dislike to one’s I thought were amazing designers but lacked any sort of humanity (Ven-in the plus size model debackle).. My eyes are still closely fixed on Melissa, Sonja and  Chris. In the words of Tim Gunn-Carry On Designers!

Catching up with Leanne Marshall…

Posted By: Terri
Category: Designer Spotlight

Remember way back when on Season 5 of Project Runway? Do you recall a very shy, yet sweet and extremely talented designer named Leanne Marshall, who just so happened to whoop everyone in the season finale and win the whole shebang. Yep..I thought you’d remember Leanne.

Well… here’s the latest 411 on Leanne Marshall. She’s moved to New York City where she currently resides and designs beautiful apparel (most of it being bridal) and just finished showing her SIXTH collection at New York’s Fashion Week. Leanne’s signature style of soft, flowing fabrications manipulated in various formations of folds, cascades and intricate pleating are still evident in her apparel.

Below isa a small sample of Leanne’s designs availabe on the etsy website. Click on the link below for more Leanne Marshall designs and info…you won’t be disappointed!

July 28,2011

Clearly… Lifetime is making budget cuts..Heide’s wearing her birthday suit, no Tim Gunn in sight on the Ad (Tim is ALWAYS in the Ad with Heide) and  a tie that’s been cut short…literally.Let’s  just hope that the contestants don’t cut as many corners in their designs…

Project Runway’s Mondo Mistake!

Posted By: Terri
Category: Fashion

It has taken me 5 days to get over the shock of Gretchen winning Project Runway.  I am still scratching my head trying to figure out  how the peasant looking, monochromatic, blah and boring collection won over  that of Andy and more importantly Mondo!

I have gone through numerous scenarios trying to make sense of this Mondo Mistake: Is Gretchen shacking up with Michael Kors??… (No, he’s Gay). Is she courting Nina Garcia??? (No, she’s straight). Is it the downsized economy affecting the judge’s opinion that people have no money and want to look that way???

Clearly, Mondo’s collection was innovative, fresh, inspiring-all qualities that seem to indicate a designer genius on the rise. But low and behold Nina claims Gretchen’s collection is indicative of what is going on now. Well Nina “what is really going on” is-YOU HAVE LOST YOUR MIND! And…Michael Kors-shame shame-I know you stand by the American Classics of design, but could you stop for a moment and embrace a unique and astoundingly colorful point of view. Mondo mixed patterns and texture and color better than Picasso.  Mondo should have won and if not him then Andy. Quite frankly Michael Costello should have been in the top 3 to start. As Heidi says: “One day you’re in and the next day you’re out.” In this case” the verdict is “out” until the public starts purchasing  a designers fashions.

My money is on Mondo!

Dressing Naturally!

Category: Fashion

Earth Month officially ends in just 2 days. After much consideration and careful observance of all the eco – friendly fashions available to us,   I find myself still enamored by the designs of long ago…Season 5 Project Runway-(to be more exact).  The design challenge was to use only natural materials to execute a fashionable ensemble. Well, here we are 6 fashion seasons later and these creations have stood the test of time..(Translation: In the fashion world 6 seasons is akin to a Lifetime, which would technically qualify these Season 5 dresses as classics-much like a Chanel suit.)  Perhaps Mother Nature is the greatest creator/designer of them all! Bravo Mother Nature…

*Project Runway  was aired on the Bravo channel until they were moved to Lifetime in 2009….

Project Runway Final Four!

Posted By: Terri
Category: Fashion

It’s the Final Four! No, I’m not refering to anything remotely related to basketball but instead something far more fashionable! THE final four Project Runway designers that survived Season 7 challenges and emerged with their pin cushions in tact and a chance to show their designs at New York Fashion Week.

Designers Emilio and Seth Aaron are confirmed for Bryant Park while Mila and Jay face a final challenge before one is picked to make it “the final three.” After so many weeks we have found that Emilio is a masterful designer, Seth Aaron-an impeccable tailor, Mila, the Queen of color block, and Jay exhibiting a unique and fresh design sense. Odds on favorite would point to Emilio but with any Project Runway finale- one can never determine who the winner is until Heidi decides…whether you’re in…or you’re out!

Project Runway Season 7!

Category: Fashion

They’re ba.a.a.a.ck! Project Runway Season Seven begins January 14. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait. The Bravo replacement for Project Runway this past Season was “Launch My Line” and if that show didn’t beg for you to hit the snooze button on fashion, Project Runway (now on Lifetime) is sure to wake up the inner designer in all of us!

Heidi, Tim, Nina and Michael are all back and rightly settled in New York after being in Los Angeles for last season. …All I can say is..”Make it Work.”
