Back to Work(ing ) OUT!

Well, here we are- January 3, 2017.  The holidays are behind us and everyone is making a pack  to get back to healthy living aka working out and eating right.  If you’re like me you probably have a pretty steady habit  of hitting the gym but heck the holidays were upon us and sometimes you just need a break from the daily grind. I will confess- on more than one occasion during the holidays I found myself  deviating from my daily morning protein drink and instead  dipping a homemade chocolate dipped biscotti into a Cup of Joe (no cream or sugar-saving calories here HA!) But REALLLLLLY!?! Who is this person? Where did my discipline for only eating healthy food go? And what about that mat Pilates, Cardio Barre  class and/or daily gym workout? Fortunately or unfortunately I have been going through a very difficult personal time and my body ‘s stress hormone has been burning calories at break neck speed so that morning biscotti didn’t find it’s way to an increased waist measurement BUT when all is said and done I just didn’t feel well.

So how do we start getting back on track: here are a few tips that I have no doubt you already know but sometimes it just good to be reminded.

1. Get back to a routine. Early to bed and early to rise. (I don’t know if it makes you wise but I will say there is something to having a set schedule).

2. Drink tons of water.

3. Add “mini workouts” in throughout your day. Stand instead of sit, park further away and walk to your destination, take the stairs and use commercial breaks during your TV viewing to do sit ups/push ups/ leg lifts or squats.

4. Eat unprocessed everything. Food from the Earth (hopefully organic) think fruits/vegetables/lean meats and fish.

5. If you really need some major motivation purchase some new workout gear. You don’t have to spend a fortune: peruse styles at Fabletics, Gap, Marshalls and Target to save a bundle.

6. Workout with a friend to stay accountable.

7. Don’t be hard on yourself. Take it a day at a time. Don’t focus on the number on the scale but instead focus on how good you feel.

Happy New Year!
